Report: Justice Dept. inspector general said to have found James Comey “defied authority” as FBI director

Are the walls finally beginning to close in on the scores of Deep State scoundrels who worked so hard to keep Donald Trump out of the White House and then tried to undermine him as POTUS?

Recent news reports appear to indicate that this may be the case — and one of the first dominoes to fall could be fired FBI Director James Comey.

In January 2017, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s office was tasked (by someone) with reviewing the actions and behavior of the FBI and the DoJ in the months leading up to the November elections, an investigation that included how both agencies handled the Clinton email investigation.

For more than a year, Horowitz has been examining evidence and putting together his final report — which is overdue, by the way.

During this time, amazingly enough, no one leaked any information about what Horowitz had found or who was implicated in any alleged wrongdoing. That has suddenly changed now that Congress has scheduled hearings to depose Horowitz and pore over details of his report, when it’s finally released in full.

As reported by ABC News, Horowitz has allegedly found that Comey “defied authority” on various occasions during his tenure:

The Justice Department’s internal watchdog has concluded that James Comey defied authority at times during his tenure as FBI director, according to sources familiar with a draft report on the matter.

One source told ABC News that the draft report explicitly used the word “insubordinate” to describe Comey’s behavior. Another source agreed with that characterization but could not confirm the use of the term.

In addition, according to the sources, Horowitz has rebuked former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for the way she handled (mishandled?) the Hillary email probe.

POTUS Trump appears to be on top of this

The leak came within days of a tweet sent by Trump complaining about the time it was taking Horowitz to finish his report and get it issued.

“What is taking so long with the Inspector General’s Report on Crooked Hillary and Slippery James Comey,” Trump wrote. “Hope report is not being changed and made weaker!”

That tweet in and of itself was curious because it’s often hard to know if the president is tweeting because he’s making a simple observation or an informed observation.

Turns out in this case it was probably the latter. (Related: WOW: Deep Staters Comey and McCabe LET Sally Yates SET UP Michael Flynn)

Investigative journalist Sara A. Carter reported earlier this week that Deep State operatives within the DoJ and FBI were slow-walking information to Horowitz and pressuring him to make changes — to water down information in his report.

“The Department of Justice and the FBI are deliberately attempting to slow roll and redact significant portions of DOJ Inspector General, Michael Horowitz’s report on the bureau’s handling of the Hillary Clinton investigation, according to numerous congressional officials and investigators,” she wrote, adding that the 400-page report was “completed several weeks ago,” and is a thorough examination of Hillary’s use of her private email server to conduct classified government business.

The report is being “reviewed” by the DoJ and the FBI, Carter noted further. But according to her sources, the IG “will criticize the handling of the investigation by” Comey.

“It’s been almost a year and a half and it is time that Congress receives the IG report,” complained Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., who has been attempting, with others, to push back against the DoJ and FBI’s stonewalling of lawmakers who have been requesting documents — regarding the email probe and other investigations. “This has gone on long enough and the American people’s patience is wearing thin. We need accountability.”

Yes, we do. And from the sound of it, Carter says, it’s no surprise that Horowitz is now being pressured as well.

We may be on the cusp of an avalanche of information that will answer many questions regarding “Spygate” and how Clinton was allowed to get away with several violations of national security law.

But those details may also spur new questions.
