It should be painfully obvious by now that the American Left, which has found a willing, accepting home in the modern Democrat Party, is out to destroy our country because they hate it as founded.
In its place they want to install a ruling autocracy that spits on the Constitution and ignores the rule of law, even if it costs millions of Americans their lives.
Last week, U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga, a George W. Bush appointee, astonishingly enough, actually sided with our terrorist enemies when he ruled, capriciously, that the so-called “watchlist” of terrorist individuals and organizations is a violation of our founding document.
In his ruling, Trenga claimed that the watchlist of 1 million-plus people the government has identified as “known or suspected terrorists” is unconstitutional — nearly two decades after it was created.
What’s more, an organization that actually has ties to real terrorist organizations was one of the groups who filed suit to be removed from the list.
As The Associated Press reports, Trenga granted “summary judgment to nearly two dozen Muslim U.S. citizens who had challenged the watchlist with the help of a Muslim civil-rights group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations,” or CAIR:
The watchlist, also known as the Terrorist Screening Database, is maintained by the FBI and shared with a variety of federal agencies. Customs officers have access to the list to check people coming into the country at border crossings, and aviation officials use the database to help form the government’s no-fly list.
Though he granted the individuals summary judgment, Trenga is seeking additional legal briefs before he decides on the remedy, the AP noted.
Plaintiffs complained they were placed on the watchlist by mistake and that the government’s process of identifying persons and then placing them on the list is flawed. (Related: Radical Muslim extremist group CAIR now dictating who gets banned on tech platforms.)
Whether or not that is true remains to be seen; after all, one judge’s opinion is just that, one opinion.
But beyond that, Trenga may have opened the door to making our country much less safe.
In court, FBI lawyers argued that any problems the plaintiffs may have suffered pale in comparison to the potential harm to the country by not compiling a list of suspected or known terrorists. True enough.
However, as columnist Michelle Malkin reminds us:
Never forget: The federal government designated CAIR an un-indicted terror co-conspirator in 2007 in the prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation and others for providing support to violent Hamas jihadists.
She also noted that investigators have linked CAIR’s founders to the group Islamic Association for Palestine, which was begun by a senior Hamas jihadist in order to serve as the terrorist organization’s PR and recruitment firm in the United States. In fact, Malkin notes, the Holy Land Foundation, which finances terrorist groups, provide CAIR the seed money to open an office in Washington, D.C.
In addition, the United Arab Emirates has also designated CAIR a terrorist organization. What’s more, federal law enforcement investigators have forbidden contact with the group to “prevent CAIR from publicly exploiting such contacts with the FBI.”
In the meantime, CAIR extremists do whatever they can to sow hate and discontent among fellow Americans:
— The group works daily to silence Muslim reformers, Christians, Jews, and apostates — in the United States, where freedom of speech and association are supposed to be enshrined in the Constitution.
— CAIR has exploited tragedies in our country to advance militant Islam and criticize our government and our system.
— The group even helped “manufacture the ‘Clock Boy’ fake hate claim in Texas — after which, Clock Boy jetted off to Water to cash in on a Muslim Brotherhood-linked educational scholarship.”
Judge Trenga just weakened U.S. national security instead of serving up ‘justice.’
